Two phones in one

Zweio splits your Android phone into Personal and Business.

Personal

  • Your accounts
  • Your photos
  • Your evenings

Business

  • Work accounts
  • Separate data
  • Switched off at 18:00
In development — not finished

The project builds and produces an installable app, but it has not yet been tried on a real phone. There is nothing to download here yet.

What it does

The same app can exist twice on one phone, with different accounts and completely separate data. Two WhatsApps, two Instagrams, two Gmails.

When the working day ends, the Business side switches off — the apps disappear, stop running, and stop sending notifications. In the morning it comes back.

This is not app cloning by trickery. Zweio uses Android's own work profile, the same mechanism companies use. The separation is done by the operating system, not by us.

How it works

  1. One button Android creates the Business profile and installs a second copy of Zweio inside it. Takes about a minute.
  2. Tick the apps you want twice Pick from the apps already on your phone. Each one gets a second, separate copy on the Business side.
  3. One switch Business on, Business off. Or on a schedule, so you never have to think about it.

What it will not do

Said plainly, because finding out afterwards is worse.

It cannot run on a rooted or modified phone
Android itself refuses, reporting the device as compromised. There is no way around this.
Only one work profile per phone
If your phone already has one from an employer, Android will not allow a second. That is a system limit, not a Zweio limit.
Two WhatsApps need two phone numbers
Same for Signal. Facebook, Instagram, Gmail and Chrome are fine with two accounts.
It does not touch your personal side
Zweio asks for no power over your phone. Everything it does happens inside the Business profile.

Requirements

Built from source

Native Android, written in Kotlin with Jetpack Compose. No web wrapper — the app talks to the operating system directly, which a wrapped web page cannot do.
